Kim Leonard (formerly Schoelen) is a Fresno native who has only lived elsewhere for two years in Orange County- until she came running back to the open arms and open fields of the Central Valley as quickly as she could. This place has substance, promise and real, good people. Her blog project, 31 Days of Fresno, helped her to better articulate and understand just what it is about this place that makes it so special.
Aside from maintaining a small handful of blogs Kim enjoys knitting and crocheting, making zines, working out to Richard Simmons VHS tapes, and learning to play guitar. She also once upon a time was part of a Youtube sketch comedy duo Kim&Greg and has been described as Andy Kauffman-esque in her comedy routines by at least one person who isn’t her mother or significant other.
A mother of an 8 year old, 6 year old and an ickle witty bitty baby– as well as a 23 year old step-son, Kim’s greatest moments of pride come from her Clovis Unified kids spreading the good word of Art Hop, shows at Warnors, and sipping cold pints of chocolate milk at Peeve’s to their classmates.
What excited her the most about working for Downtown Fresno Partnership is that she gets to ensure that Downtown Fresno will be a place that her kids will want to be when they’re grown up, rolling their eyes at her when she says “Oh, you like that place? I was there when it opened!”
