How to get hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers overnight

by Justin on January 21, 2010

Everywhere I look on the internet there are hundreds of spammy sounding methods talking about getting thousands of followers overnight and then making money off them.

I am here to tell you that there is only one way to get thousands of followers overnight.

On the 19th January 2010 a new twitter account was started. Today as I look this account now 1t 19.23 on the 21st Januarythis account has 290610 followers. The account hasn’t followed loads of people. Indeed at the time of looking it only followed 42 people.

The reason?

Simple. This account belongs to Bill Gates. You too can follow it here: @billgates

Moral of the story. If you want to get loads of followers who are interested in what you have to say it is as simple as :

  • Be a recognised expert.
  • Tweet interesting things.

No more no less.

I am in the process of writing a twitter training program. I would love to hear your thoughs on Twitter, what you find frustrating about it and what you would like to learn. Please feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts. Also if you are interested in learning about my program when it is finished please sign up for my mailing list on the left.

And a final plea:

Please forget about Spamming Twitter. Twitter has grown up. You will only get response to your tweets if you engage with your audience. Give them useful information and who knows they may be prepared to buy from you if you give them interesting offers. Incidentally if you want a brilliant tool for automating twitter I would really recommend Tweet Attacks. It makes finding people worth following much easier and will follow them for you, it will unfollow them, it will look for tweets you should be replying to and it will also allow you to schedule tweets. The best purchase I have made with regards to Twitter, and it is backed up by a great software developer who is adding new features on a weekly basis. You can’t really go wrong! YOu can buy it here: Get Tweet Attacks!

What's your next move, after having read this post?
