Peeve’s Public House and Local Market, or PPH&LM is somewhere that is already near and dear to our hearts even though it has only been open for two weeks. We love local produce and we get super excited when people create menus around what’s in season- and that’s Peeve’s to a T. We also think that Craig Scharton, owner of Peeve’s is pretty cool. And we like his dog, Peeve. In two weeks, PPH&LM has become a second office for most of us.
Heck, just this morning after some yoga, a couple of us were at Peeve’s having coffee and breakfast.
The atmosphere at PPH&LM is so light and very inviting. The woodwork was done with reclaimed wood, the unique barstools and tables made locally. Peeve’s doesn’t miss any opportunity to tie the community into their space. So we arrived, hungry and happy.
There was piano being played. Whether this was arranged or just a wandering minstrel we may never know. Well, we could ask, but we like the suspense.
You order at the bar (stocked with craft beer!) and the daily menu is posted on a chalk board. This is Gretchen’s thing now. She’s made it a thing since last week.
There’s no shortage of friendly faces here- you may remember Michelle Wong from a previous blog. She’s the manager who knows everything that’s going on- not just at Peeve’s but in downtown in general!
Peeve’s Owner, Craig Scharton.
Executive Chef, Sean Dunn.
I know, I know, but what about the food? Well, check this out. Grab a napkin, you’re about to start drooling.
Gretchen ordered the Mushroom and Lentil Pot Pit with a Gouda Biscuit Crust. A collective OMG is the appropriate response to this. Everyone at the table just stared in wonder when this came out.
Rocio ordered the Grilled Cheese with Sauteed Mushrooms & Prosciutto. This was particularly exciting since Chateau Fresno Cheese is one of our Market on Kern vendors, so we loved seeing (tasting) their cheese in action!
Mitch ordered the Roasted Squash with Mint and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds.
Another great thing is that they serve Raizana tea. Yum, Happy Tea!
Cole also ordered the Roasted Squash, as well as the Raw Fresno Kale Caesar Salad.
Kim had the Kale Caesar. It ruled!
We’d like to leave you with this: our toothy Kale grins. Peeve’s Public House is wonderful, simply wonderful. You can grab lunch for $6 and know you’re supporting local businesses right down to the pumpkin seeds on your squash! Plus they have all kinds of great events coming up- Open Mic Nights, Movie Nights, 4 Square Tournaments… follow them on Facebook to keep up with all of the fun!
Peeve’s is located t 1243 Fulton Mall.
